News in Economic Development:
At the June 2009 meeting of the Chamber’s Economic Development Committee, one of discussions of the committee centered on Financial Regulatory Reform. During the discussion, Jack Bennett, CPA, Tax Manager of Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan agreed to provide an analysis of financial reform as proposed by President Obama - his report was submitted to the Chamber in July 2009. The piece provides an excellent overview of the President's proposal. Certainly, all of the proposed regulatory changes will not pass congressional scrutiny and debate, but this type of analysis will provide a base of information for congressional leaders and citizens of America to make informed decisions. Our thanks to Mr. Bennett and Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan for the timely analysis of this very complex issue. To view the analysis, please click here.
The City's Economic Development Division tracks a variety of different economic indicators throughout both the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley. These indicators provide a general snapshot of the overall financial health of the community. Indicators that are monitored include the real estate market, commercial and residential development, tax generation, stock prices, and film and visitor activity. Ronald Morgan and Doug Ridnor, of Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan, An Accountancy Corporation, reviewed the new 2009 California Tax Laws and provided the Economic Development Committee with the enclosed analysis. Thanks to both Mr. Morgan and Mr. Ridnor for providing the Chamber and its members these helpful materials. To view the full report, please click here.
The Chamber's Economic Development Committee Chair, John Shaffery, asked Calvin Hedman, CPA of Hedman Partners to analyze in detail the specifics of the Stimulus Bill signed into law by President Barrack Obama.
